Oliver Banta is Director of Information Technology for the Nebraska Heart Institute & Heart Hospital. Banta’s responsibilities include oversight and planning for Nebraska Heart’s Biomedical Engineering Department, programmers, analysts as well as the organization’s Help Desk. Since February of 2010, Banta served as co-director of IT. In his role as Director, Oliver helps to shape the future of all projects associated with the information technology utilized by Nebraska Heart.

Oliver joined the Nebraska Heart organization in 2002 as Network Administrator for the Nebraska Heart Hospital. In this role, Banta helped formulate the processes and applications necessary for the Heart Hospital prior to its opening in May of 2003. Since then, Banta has served on several special projects including clinical applications and the electronic medical records application being implemented by Nebraska Heart Institute this summer.

Oliver, and his wife, Kate, have six children and live in the Lincoln area. Oliver is an avid bicyclist and reminds us also, he was the number three employee selected by the Heart Hospital in 2002.
