Douglas Colburn, Chief Information Officer
Douglas Colburn joined the Nebraska Heart organization in 2000 as the Director of Information and Communication Services, where he is
responsible for all aspects of Information Technology and communications.
In 2003, Doug accepted the role of Chief Information Officer for the Nebraska Heart Hospital. As CIO, Doug
is responsible for all aspects of IT including computing, communications, and biomedical technology
at one of the most successful specialty hospitals in the United States. NHH continues to invest in cutting edge
technology and is committed to the highest quality outcomes. NHH employs the Universal Bed Care Model to drive efficiency
and clinical outcomes. Technology is molded to fit care givers needs and to facilitate excellence.
In August 2005 the IT departments of the Nebraska Heart Institute and Nebraska Heart Hospital were merged under a single
leadership structure. The IT staff and infrastructures of NHI were merged with NHH including computing, communications,
and biomedical technology to create a single IT governance and operations structure.
Doug and his wife, Anika, live in Lincoln along with their two children. Doug received his Bachelor of Science
in Computer Information Systems with pre-med school emphasis from Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska. He is currently on the
Division of Business and Computer Science Advisory Board for Union College.
