Trish Wilmes, Chief Administrative Officer
Trish Wilmes, RN, BSN, serves as Chief Administrative Officer for the Nebraska Heart Institute and Heart Hospital. In this position, Trish provides leadership to improve upon critical non-clinical functions including performance improvement teams, risk management, and safety. She also oversees the Heart Institute's research department. As CAO, Trish is also responsible for optimizing opportunities to further strengthen patient outcomes for surgical, interventional and medical therapies.
Prior to being named CAO, Trish joined Nebraska Heart in 2003 as Quality and Risk Management Team Leader for the Nebraska Heart Institute and Heart Hospital. She coordinated the collection, evaluation, and dissemination of performance data relative to specified quality improvement programs. Additionally, she worked with performance improvement teams, risk management of the Heart Hospital, as well as co-chaired the Heart Hospital's Safety Committee.
Before her tenure with the Nebraska Heart Institute, Trish worked with a community-based hospital, serving as a progressive care nurse manager as well as working in utilization management. Trish received her RN from the Bryan School of Nursing and her Bachelors of Nursing from Nebraska Wesleyan University.
Trish grew up in a small rural town on a farm in central Nebraska. Currently, she and her husband, Mike, reside in Lincoln with their two sons and daughter.
