What are the Signs and Symptoms of Atrial Fibrillation?
Some of the symptoms that may occur with AF include:
- Heart palpitations (racing feeling in your chest)
- Chest discomfort
- Lightheadedness
- Decrease of energy
- Shortness of breath
Some people have no symptoms at all.
Atrial fibrillation may be:
Sporadic. In this case it's called paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. You may have Atrial Fib symptoms that come and go, lasting for a few minutes to hours and then stopping on its own.
Persistent. With persistent or continuous atrial fibrillation, the rythm will require some type of intervention by healthcare providers to resolve.
