Nebraska Heart in the Community
As an organization, Nebraska Heart is committed to educating and reaching out to Lincoln and the surrounding communities. Heart health is our passion, and we are constantly making an effort to help Nebraskans achieve their heart health goals. Through free classes, community events, volunteering and restaurant partnerships, we are working harder than ever to ensure that we have a hand in enriching our community. We believe that, while it's one thing to give our patients the best heart care in Nebraska, it's another thing to help them succeed outside of our walls. Which is why we have launched this initiative.
Nebraska Heart Toys for Tots 2009 Final Event

Monday, December 21st, the NH Toys For Tots program held its final event. Governor Heineman, along with Channel 8 news anchor Rod Fowler, JJ Ryan with KFRX radio and Jeanne Pashalek with Lincoln Fire & Rescue participated in the first "Nebraska Heart Toys For Tots Celebrity Scavenger Scramble." Through an anonymous donation of $1,000 and Wal-Mart's generous contribution of another $500, more than 60 additional toys and four bicycles were donated during the Celebrity Scramble.
With this event, more than 3,500 toys were contributed through the program. Thank you to everyone who gave their time and resources this holiday season as well as in July. To the U.S. Marines, Maggie Rine, our Honorary Chair, who raised more than 80 toys from her school in Waverly and to all of our partner businesses who joined Nebraska Heart, we say thank you. Thank you for helping to make so many children's holiday wishes come true. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of people in the communities we serve.
